Gene’s biggest artistic inspiration is skateboarding, which at 13 years old introduced him to illustration, graphic design, great music, magazines and video. Growing up, the TV was stuck on skate and music videos. Lush, beautiful music has a huge influence on his shooting style and he's a big fan of New Order, Arcade Fire, The Sex Pistols, The Knife, Karen O, NWA, Tupac and The Wu Tang Clan. He watches tons of movies, episodic TV, loves to surf, skate and has traveled to 44 countries.
